Marketplace

The Marketplace serves as a hub for users to publish and share HoloBit research files—this includes Holo files and various block files—all available for the community. Other users may download, favorite, or, if permitted, Reuse these resources for their modeling and research projects.

Tip

The Marketplace offers a variety of user-contributed resources. You can browse them to jumpstart or enrich your own modeling and experiments.

Key Concepts

Understanding these core concepts is key to effectively using HoloBit Marketplace:

  1. Published Works are Snapshots
    • Any file published to Marketplace is essentially a snapshot copy. It's independent of the creator's original file in their workspace. Edits, removals, or unpublishing one file do not automatically affect the other.
  2. Usage Modes: Download vs. Reuse
    • Depending on the creator's settings, you may be allowed to download or reuse a file (for blocks).
      • Download: You obtain a fully independent copy in your own workspace, free to modify or build upon.
      • Reuse: Currently only supported for block files. You can use the block in your models without altering its internals or re-creating it.
Warning: Prohibited Re-publishing

Works downloaded from the Marketplace are for personal or internal use only. Republishing downloaded content, either directly or with minor modifications, is strictly prohibited and may result in account penalties.

  2. Download (or Reuse)
    • For Holo files: saving the file to a target folder in your workspace.
    • For Block files: saving the block to your workspace Library or referencing it (if the author allowed referencing).

      block reuse

    • Reuse means you can use the block in your model but cannot modify or fork it.
Notes on Downloading Files
  • Downloading files requires you
    • to be logged into your account;
    • have sufficient quota (e.g., for component limits) if applicable.
  • For paid items, successful payment is required.
  • Downloading files will consume your account's storage capacity. Adding files to your favorites will not.
  1. Model Info (e.g., total components, last update date)
  2. File Content Preview: The root canvas or main content of an open-source file is displayed in an embedded window.
    • For Holo files, you may even run or test the scenario if it's open source.
    • For block files, they are not directly runnable, but an example model (provided during publishing) might be available for demonstration.
